Stopped by Niland post office on a Sunday with Bob & Bruce. Post office was closed because it was a Sunday, but obviously in daily operation. There is evidence of a fire in the attached units, which no longer have roofs. The Niland PO has more PO boxes than you might expect because the nearby Slab City is where many people spend the winter (rent-free).
Nearby Salvation Mtn draws some tourists, but not many residents.

Seneca Falls, NY 13148 It’s a Wonderful Life
The Village of Seneca Falls was the inspiration for the movie setting “It’s a Wonderful Life”. It was somewhat a surprise to see the photos of the movie in the lobby! Also in a display case there was a postcard of the building when it was first built, along with construction photos. The renovations of the interior haven’t been historically appropriate, especially when you see them compared to present day. Additionally, there is a photo of the first letter being mailed, dated Jan. 29, 1934.
